Pros:

• The most accommodating host, Mr. Kato
• Stunning location with breathtaking views and incredible nature
• Bike rentals available
• Two beautiful private onsens with river views
• Peaceful and well-designed accommodation

Cons:
• Eventually, you have to check out and leave this wonderful place!

Things to keep in mind:
• Trains run roughly every hour
• The property accepts both cash and card
• Best to rent bikes directly from the property—the surrounding views are perfect for cycling
• There’s a lunch spot nearby, but it closes at 5 PM; other food options are a bit further away

I came here with a friend, looking to immerse ourselves in nature and escape the urban landscape of the city. I didn’t expect much—but this place exceeded every possible expectation. Hoohoo is beautifully designed, blending modern and traditional aesthetics that fit perfectly with the natural surroundings.

Because only one other family was staying at the time, we had the convenience of using separate WCs. The accommodation offers two private onsens with river views, and there’s a separate shower as well. On the second floor, where the rooms are located, there’s a small fridge, kettle, and microwave, which made our stay even more comfortable. I especially enjoyed eating on the terrace overlooking the river. You can also easily walk down to the river for a closer experience with nature.

Each morning, a small but lovely breakfast is available—yogurt with granola and a selection of local dried fruits, prepared by Mr. Kato himself. There’s also freshly brewed coffee, which made starting the day even more enjoyable.

The highlight of our stay was without a doubt Mr. Kato. He speaks excellent English and is always happy to chat. On our first day, he told us about a local festival we hadn’t heard of and even gave us a lift so we could attend. His hospitality and warmth made our experience unforgettable.

This stay left a lasting impression on me—it’s rare to find a place that feels so special and like hope. I was genuinely sad to leave and hope to return before my trip in Japan ends. If not, I’d gladly make the effort to come back on a future visit.
